Pre-Treatment Instructions
To ensure the best results and minimize risks:
- Stop using these products 3–5 days before treatment:
- Retinols/Retin-A or Vitamin A products
- Alpha- or beta-hydroxy acids (glycolic, lactic, salicylic)
- Exfoliating scrubs
- Avoid tanning, self-tanners, or significant sun exposure for at least 1 week.
- Do not wax, thread, or use depilatory creams on the treatment area for 1 week.
- If you have a history of cold sores, notify your provider — an antiviral may be prescribed.
- Arrive with clean skin: no makeup, lotions, or sunscreen.
Post-Treatment Instructions
Redness, sensitivity, and mild swelling are normal. Healing usually lasts 2–5 days.
- Skin will look and feel like a mild to moderate sunburn for 24–48 hours.
- Redness typically resolves within 1–3 days.
- Pinpoint bleeding or mild swelling may occur.
- Use only the products recommended by your provider for the first 24–48 hours (usually a gentle cleanser + soothing serum).
- Keep skin hydrated with a bland, fragrance-free moisturizer.
- Avoid touching, scratching, or picking at the skin.
- No makeup for the first 24 hours.
- Avoid sweating, hot tubs, saunas, or swimming for 48 hours.
- Do not use retinoids, acids, or exfoliants for 5–7 days.
- Always wear SPF 30+ daily; limit sun exposure for at least 1 week.
- Contact the office if you notice spreading redness, pus, severe pain, or signs of infection.
