Pre-Treatment Instructions
To ensure the best results and reduce risks, please follow these guidelines:
- Stop using the following 4–7 days before treatment:
- Retinols/Vitamin A products
- Topical antibiotics
- Hydroquinone
- Benzoyl peroxide
- Let your provider know if you have:
- Active breakouts
- Excessive dryness, flaking, or irritation
- Sunburn or recent tanning
- Stay well hydrated in the days before your appointment.
- If you get cold sores, let us know — preventive antiviral medication may be recommended.
- On the day of treatment:
- Wash your face before arriving.
- Do not apply makeup, moisturizers, or skincare products.
- A topical anesthetic will be applied for comfort (nerve block may be used for sensitive areas).
- The skin will be cleansed before treatment begins.
Post-Treatment Instructions
Mild redness, swelling, and sensitivity are normal after RF microneedling. Healing usually takes 3–7 days.
- Expect redness for 1–3 days; skin may feel warm or tight.
- Pinpoint bleeding, swelling, or tiny scabs are possible.
- Flaking or peeling may begin in 1–2 days and last up to 5–7 days.
- Avoid direct sun for at least 24 hours; wear SPF 30+ daily for 30 days.
- No makeup for the first 24 hours.
- Avoid sweating, heavy exercise, and saunas for 48 hours.
- Keep skin moisturized with a gentle, fragrance-free product.
- Do not pick, scratch, or scrub the skin.
- Cold compresses can help with swelling or discomfort.
- Avoid exfoliants, acids, or retinoids for 2 weeks.
- Temporary breakouts may occur as the skin clears.
- Contact the office if you notice:
- Severe pain
- Spreading redness, pus, or warmth
- Signs of infection
