Pre-Care (Before Piercing)
- Eat a light meal before your appointment.
- Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, or fish oil for 24 hours before (may increase bleeding).
- Arrive with clean skin around the earlobes (no lotion, makeup, or sunscreen).
- Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
- Optional comfort step: If desired, you may apply an over-the-counter (OTC) topical lidocaine cream (usually 4–5%) to the front and back of each earlobe about 1 hour before your appointment.
- Apply about a pea-sized amount per ear.
- Cover with small Band-Aids for best absorption.
- Remove before your appointment.
Post-Care (After Piercing)
- Clean piercings 2–3 times daily with saline or the solution provided.
- Wash hands thoroughly before touching earrings or earlobes.
- Do not remove earrings for at least 6 weeks.
- Rotate earrings gently during cleaning to prevent sticking.
- Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and lakes for 2 weeks.
- Try not to sleep directly on newly pierced ears.
- Watch for signs of infection: increasing redness, swelling, pus, or pain. Contact the clinic if these occur.
