Pre-Treatment Instructions
To ensure safe and effective results:
- Stop using the following for 5–7 days before treatment:
- Retin-A/retinoids or Vitamin A products
- Alpha- or beta-hydroxy acids (glycolic, lactic, salicylic acid)
- Benzoyl peroxide
- Exfoliating scrubs or masks
- Avoid waxing, threading, or depilatory creams on the treatment area for at least 1 week.
- Avoid tanning, self-tanners, or significant sun exposure for 2 weeks.
- If you are prone to cold sores, let your provider know — antiviral medication may be recommended.
- Arrive with clean skin: no makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or perfume.
Post-Treatment Instructions
Peeling and redness are expected as your skin renews. Healing usually lasts 3–7 days depending on peel strength.
- Do not pick, peel, or scratch the skin as it flakes.
- Keep the skin moisturized with a bland, fragrance-free product (e.g., Aquaphor, CeraVe).
- Wash gently with a mild cleanser; avoid scrubbing.
- Avoid sun exposure; wear SPF 30+ daily and reapply when outdoors.
- Do not use retinoids, acids, or exfoliants until peeling has completely resolved (about 1–2 weeks).
- Avoid hot tubs, saunas, swimming, or heavy exercise for 24–48 hours.
- Makeup may be used once the skin is intact and not irritated (often after 24 hours).
- Contact the clinic if you notice severe pain, spreading redness, blisters, or signs of infection.
